Nadine Buranaseda, born in Cologne in 1976, has Thai roots on her father’s side. She studied German and philosophy in Bonn. She began publishing crime fiction in 2005 with a Jerry Cotton novel, followed by more than a dozen further books in the series. In 2007, she was nominated for the Agatha Christie Crime Writing Prize. Her psychological detective novels Seelengrab (2010) and Seelenschrei (2012) are among her notable works. She received the Tatort-Töwerland Crime Writing Fellowship in 2011. Buranaseda has also worked as an editor. She began writing during her studies, when a professor submitted a short crime story she had written for a final course requirement to a publisher.
