Claudia Schmid studied German literature at the University of Mannheim and is known as an author of crime fiction, historical writing and travel reports. She also wrote radio plays, theatre pieces and numerous short stories, for which she received several literary awards. She worked as a communications trainer and editor for the online portal Kriminetz.de. Schmid is an honorary criminal commissioner of the Mannheim-Heidelberg police and occasionally appeared in small roles in television crime dramas.
