Rita Hausen was born in 1952 in Dernbach in the Westerwald. She studied German and Catholic theology in Bonn and worked as a secondary-school teacher in Walldorf near Heidelberg from 1981 to 2008. She subsequently devoted herself to writing and painting. Her work includes poetry, short stories and novels, among them the Mozart crime novel “Trazom” (2009), “Schillercode” (2012), “Ein ungeratener Sohn” (2012), “Der Fall Struensee” (2013) and “Das verschwundene Buch” (2016). Several of her works are set in the eighteenth century. In 2009, she won third place in the 42er Autoren short-story competition; her story was published in “Gans die Sieger” in 2016.
