Sylvia Geist

Sylvia Geist, born in Berlin in 1963, is a German author, translator and editor. She has published poetry, prose and essays; her works include the poetry collections Gordisches Paradies (2014) and Fremde Felle (2018). She has also edited anthologies of Central and Eastern European and South African literature and translated, among others, poems by John Ashbery, Peter Gizzi and Chirikure Chirikure from English. Her work has received several awards, including the Meran Poetry Prize (2002), the Adolf Mejstrik Honorary Award of the German Schiller Foundation (2008) and the ver.di Literature Prize.
