Ali Abdollahi

Ali Abdollahi, born in 1968 in Birjand in northeastern Iran, studied German at the University of Tehran. He worked as a poet, literary critic and translator, translating around 100 works of German literature and philosophy into Persian, including texts by Heinrich Heine, Friedrich Nietzsche, Rainer Maria Rilke, Franz Kafka and Bertolt Brecht. Seven collections of his poetry were published in Iran, along with anthologies of modern German-language poetry and prose. In 2021, he co-edited the anthology “A Thief in the Dark Stares at a Painting” with Kurt Scharf. Abdollahi received several awards for his work.
