Anton G Leitner

Anton G. Leitner (born 1961 in Munich) is a German poet, editor and publisher. After studying law and completing his legal training, he turned to poetry and its mediation. From 1993 onward, he edited the annual literary publication »Das Gedicht«. He published several poetry collections, including »Schnablgwax. Bairisches Verskabarett« and »Wadlbeissn. Zupackende Verse«, and edited more than 40 anthologies. A selection of his poems appeared in English in 2018 as »Selected Poems 1981–2015«. Leitner received, among other distinctions, the V. O. Stomps Prize of the City of Mainz, the Bayerischer Poetentaler (2015), the Tassilo Cultural Prize of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the German Publishers’ Prize and the Bavarian state publishing grant (both 2022).
