Wilhelm Bartsch

Wilhelm Bartsch (born 1950 in Eberswalde) is a German author. He studied philosophy in Leipzig and attended special courses at the city’s literature institute, where he later also taught. Before pursuing a literary career, he worked in various occupations and earned two additional vocational qualifications. His work includes poetry, novels, short stories and essays. His publications include “Frankensteinmonstrum. Lyrische Collage” (2017), “Gotische Knoten. Gedichte” (2017), “Neun Irrfahrten zu Hilbig” (2021) and “Hohe See und niemands Land. Gedichte” (2024). He has received, among other honors, the Brüder Grimm Prize and the Wilhelm Müller Prize, as well as work and residence grants in Germany and abroad.
