Jutta Winkelmann was born in Kassel in 1949. She studied at the city’s College of Fine Arts and attended acting and film schools. She worked as a filmmaker, actress, photographer, and author, and received the Grand Film Prize of Oberhausen in 1969. As an actress, she appeared, among other films, in Alexander Kluge’s “In Danger and Dire Distress, the Middle Way Brings Death.” Together with her twin sister, Gisela Getty, and Jamal Tuschik, she wrote “The Twins, or The Attempt to Kiss Mind and Money” (2008). In 1976, she co-founded a spiritually oriented communal living group in Munich with Rainer Langhans and other women.
