Harry Mulisch (1927–2010) was a Dutch writer. He wrote novels, short stories, poetry, plays, opera librettos, essays and philosophical works. He covered the Eichmann trial in his report “Criminal Case 40/61” (“Strafsache 40/61”), which received the Vijverberg Prize in 1963. He became internationally known, especially through his novel “The Assault,” which was translated into numerous languages; the film adaptation by Fons Rademakers won an Academy Award. In 1995, Mulisch received the Dutch Literature Prize.
