Dierk Hoffmann

Dierk Hoffmann (born 1963) is a German historian. He studied modern and contemporary history, East European history, and economics at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. His academic career has included the Institute for Contemporary History in Munich and Berlin and the University of Potsdam, where he worked as a Privatdozent and adjunct professor. From 2011 to 2016, he served on a commission investigating the history of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and its predecessor institutions. His work has focused, among other topics, on the history of social policy in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the history of the Soviet occupation zone and East Germany, and postwar German history.
