Charles Berberian, born in Baghdad in 1959, studied in Paris. In the early 1980s, he joined the group surrounding Avril and Philippe Dupuy there. Together with Philippe Dupuy, he received the American Inkpot Award in 2003. In 2008, the two were awarded the Grand Prix de la Ville d’Angoulême at the 35th International Comics Festival of Angoulême.
