Andreas Beyer

Andreas Beyer is a German art historian. After holding professorships at the universities of Jena and Aachen, he became professor of modern art history at the University of Basel in 2003. From 2009 onward, he directed the German Centre for Art History in Paris. His research and numerous publications address, among other subjects, the art and architectural history of the Italian Renaissance, German Classicism, and the history of scholarship. His publications include The Portrait in Painting (2002).
