Elmar Nass

Elmar Nass, born in 1966, comes from Straelen in the Lower Rhine region of Germany. He trained as a bank clerk and studied theology, philosophy, economics and social sciences in Bonn, Rome and Trier. He earned a doctorate in theology in 2002 and a second doctorate in socioeconomics in 2006. He subsequently worked as a research associate at the Chair of Social Policy and Socioeconomics in Bochum and also headed the CDU Social Committees’ Commission on Fundamental Values. In 2013, Nass became Professor of Economic and Social Ethics at Wilhelm Löhe University of Applied Sciences in Fürth; in 2015, he took over as head of its Institute of Ethics. He is also a priest of the Diocese of Aachen. His areas of work include social justice, the ethics of money, Catholic social teaching and leadership ethics.
