Verena Ballhaus (born 1951) studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. After graduating, she initially worked as a stage designer and also designed theater posters before turning to the illustration of picture and children’s books. Her work received several awards, including the German Youth Literature Prize.
