Ulrich Schmid

Ulrich Schmid (born 1965) was appointed Professor of Russian Culture and Society at the University of St. Gallen in 2007. He previously taught Slavic literary studies at Ruhr University Bochum and held positions at the universities of Bern and Basel. He studied German, Slavic studies and political science in Zurich, Heidelberg and Leningrad. His publications include Technologies of the Soul: On the Making of Truth in Contemporary Russian Culture and De profundis: On the Failure of the Russian Revolution.
