Thomas Klie

Thomas Klie, born in Hamburg in 1955, is a legal and social scientist, gerontologist and lawyer. From 1988 to 2021, he taught public law and administrative science at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Freiburg. He was a private lecturer in gerontology at Alpen-Adria University Klagenfurt/IFF Vienna and served on the German federal government’s Sixth and Seventh Commission on Ageing. He also chaired the Second Commission on Civic Engagement. Klie headed the AGP Institute for Applied Social Research and has published extensively on ageing, care, dementia and civil society. His books include “Recht auf Demenz – ein Plädoyer” (“The Right to Dementia – A Plea”).
