Regina Keil-Sagawe was born in Bochum in 1957. She worked as a literary translator and cultural journalist, specializing early on in the literature of the Maghreb. Her German translations include works by Mohammed Dib, Yasmina Khadra, Boualem Sansal, and Habib Tengour, as well as by Albert Memmi, Mahi Binebine, Cécile Oumhani, and Leïla Marouane.
