Miron Zownir

Miron Zownir was born in Karlsruhe in 1953 to German-Ukrainian parents. From the mid-1970s onward, he worked as a photographer, director and author. He became known especially for existential black-and-white photographs of Western metropolises and post-communist Eastern Europe. His work appeared in numerous photo books and was exhibited internationally, including in the group exhibitions “Darkside I” and “Darkside II” at the Fotomuseum Winterthur in 2008 and 2009. Zownir also wrote crime novels, short stories and poetry.
