Melanie Walz

Melanie Walz, born in Essen in 1953, is a German translator and editor. She has translated works into German by authors including Jane Austen, A. S. Byatt, Charles Dickens, Marcel Proust, Michael Ondaatje, Lawrence Norfolk, Virginia Woolf and Honoré de Balzac. Her translations, including those of A. S. Byatt, earned her the Zug Translation Grant in 1999 and the Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt Translator’s Prize in 2001.
