Jutta Himmelreich

Jutta Himmelreich studied Romance languages and literatures, American studies, and ethnology in Frankfurt am Main, Tucson, Arizona, and Paris. From 1985 onward, she worked as a translator, interpreter, and lecturer in German, English, French, Spanish, and Persian; she was also described as a freelance author. Her work focused on promoting and disseminating literature from the Global South. Her literary translations received several awards. In 2020, she and five other colleagues received the International Literature Prize awarded by Berlin’s Haus der Kulturen der Welt and the Stiftung Elementarteilchen.
