Helmut Herbst (1934–2021) was a German filmmaker. He was born on 2 December 1934 in Escherhof in the Rhineland and died on 9 October 2021 in Brombachtal in the Odenwald district. His specialities included animated and experimental film. In his films and writing, he explored the technology, history and aesthetics of the medium of film.
