Yvan Goll

Yvan Goll (1891–1950), also known as Iwan Goll, was a German-French poet. Born in Saint-Dié-des-Vosges, he wrote in both German and French and is associated primarily with Expressionism and Surrealism. After studying law in Strasbourg, he lived in Swiss exile during the First World War. A committed pacifist, he opposed the war. Goll was married to the writer and journalist Claire Goll and died in France in 1950.
