William Ury is an American negotiation expert who was a professor of law at Harvard Law School. He co-founded and directed the Harvard Negotiation Project and worked as a mediator in political processes, war and crisis zones, and disputes involving companies and labor relations. He became known as a co-developer of the Harvard method of negotiation, which gained wider recognition through the Camp David negotiations. Ury has written numerous books on negotiation, including *Getting to Yes* (1981; first published in German in 1984).
