Simone Abels

Simone Abels is a German scholar and university lecturer specializing in science education. Her professional career includes a professorship in science education at Leuphana University Lüneburg and postdoctoral research at the Austrian Competence Centre for Didactics of Chemistry (AECC Chemistry) at the University of Vienna. She earned her doctorate at the University of Hamburg with a dissertation on the reflective competence of chemistry and physics student teachers in relation to science education that promotes democracy. Abels completed the first and second state examinations for teaching at special-needs schools. Her research interests include inclusive subject teaching, diversity, inquiry-based learning, and reflective teacher education.
