Saul Leiter
Author · 5 books
Saul Leiter (1923–2013) was an American photographer and painter. From 1946 onward, he was among the early artists to use color photography for fine-art work, at a time when the medium was widely dismissed by artists, and helped anticipate the later New Color Photography movement. His work combines elements of street, portrait, fashion, and architectural photography. Recurring motifs include shop windows, passersby, cars, signs, and umbrellas.
