Paul Auster

Paul Auster (1947–2024), born in Newark, New Jersey, was an American writer, director, translator, and editor. He studied English and comparative literature at Columbia University and subsequently spent several years in France, where he worked as a translator. He gained international recognition with the New York Trilogy and the novel »In the Country of Last Things«. His widely acclaimed body of work includes numerous novels, essays, and poems, as well as translations of contemporary poetry. In 2006, he received the Prince of Asturias Award.
