Rudyard Kipling (1865–1936) was a British writer, poet, and journalist. Born in Bombay, he spent his early years in India. After being educated in England, he returned to India and began his career as a journalist. He first gained recognition for stories about India. His best-known works include The Jungle Book, Kim, and the Just So Stories, as well as numerous poems. Kipling was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1907.
