Robert B. Laughlin

Born in 1950, Robert B. Laughlin is an American physicist and a professor of physics at Stanford University. In 1998, he shared the Nobel Prize in Physics with Horst L. Störmer and Daniel C. Tsui for the discovery of a new type of quantum fluid. From 2004 to 2006, Laughlin served as president of KAIST in South Korea. His other honors include the Ernest O. Lawrence Award for Physics, the Benjamin Franklin Medal, the Oliver E. Buckley Prize, and the Onsager Medal.
