pociao

Born in 1951, pociao is a translator, author, and publisher. She studied English and comparative literature and was involved with the publishing house Expanded Media Editions. In the early 1970s, she founded a distributor for experimental literature from the American small-press scene and later established the publishing house Sans Soleil. She translated works by, among others, Paul and Jane Bowles, William S. Burroughs, Gore Vidal, Zelda Fitzgerald, Patti Smith, and Evelyn Waugh. In 2017, she won the Don DeLillo Translation Competition organized by the German Translators’ Fund and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
