Pieke Biermann (born 1950) worked as a writer, literary translator, and journalist. She wrote several award-winning crime novels, collected as the “Berlin Quartet” and regarded as part of Berlin literature. As a translator, she rendered works into German by authors including Dorothy Parker, Liza Cody, Walter Mosley, Ben Fountain, Ann Petry, Gayl Jones, and Fran Ross. Her translation of Fran Ross’s novel “Oreo” received the Leipzig Book Fair Prize.
