Oliver Nachtwey

Oliver Nachtwey (born 1975) is an economist, social scientist, and sociologist. He was Professor of Social Structure Analysis at the University of Basel and previously taught and conducted research at the universities of Jena, Trier, Darmstadt, and Frankfurt am Main on work, inequality, protest, and democracy. In 2016, he published *The Descent Society: The Revolt of the Regressive Modernity*, which earned him the 2017 Hans Matthöfer Prize for Economic Journalism.
