Moritz Stetter, born in 1983, grew up in the Black Forest in a working-class family. After training in graphic design and animation, he became a freelance graphic novelist, illustrator, portrait artist and workshop leader in 2008. His work includes comic biographies of Ludwig van Beethoven, Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Martin Luther, as well as an adaptation of Franz Kafka’s “The Judgment.” In 2019, he published the comic essay “Uns fürchtet nur das Unbekannte,” about a journey to India undertaken as part of a Goethe-Institut program.
