Matthias Uhl

Matthias Uhl (born 1970) studied history, political science and East European history in Halle and Moscow. After earning his doctorate in 2000, he worked at the Institute of Contemporary History and, from 2005, was a research associate at the German Historical Institute in Moscow. His research focuses on the history of the Cold War and Soviet military, security and intelligence history. As an editor or co-editor, he published, among other works, The Hitler Book (2005), which has been translated into 29 languages, and The Organization of Terror: Heinrich Himmler’s Service Diary, 1943–1945.
