Matthew Rosenberg was born and raised in New York. Before becoming known as a comics writer, he owned and ran a punk-rock record label. In 2014, he co-wrote the multimedia project 36 Seasons with Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan. He gained recognition in comics with the independent miniseries We Can Never Go Home and 4 Kids Walk into a Bank, published by Black Mask in 2015. For Marvel, he wrote, among other titles, Uncanny X-Men, Phoenix Resurrection: The Return of Jean Grey, Punisher, Secret Warriors, New Mutants: Dead Souls, and Spider-Man. For Image Comics, he wrote What’s the Furthest Place from Here? in 2021–22. His work for DC Comics includes The Joker, Batman: Urban Legends, Detective Comics, and Task Force Z.
