James Tynion IV

James Tynion IV, born in New York in 1987, is an American comics writer. He grew up in Milwaukee and studied creative writing at Sarah Lawrence College, where he took a course taught by Scott Snyder. He later worked as an editorial intern at Vertigo/DC Comics; in 2012, Snyder brought him on as a co-writer for Batman backup stories. Tynion wrote titles including Batman, Batman: Detective Comics, Justice League Dark, and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. With Snyder, he co-created the event series Batman Eternal and Batman & Robin Eternal. His creator-owned horror and mystery comics include The Woods, Something Is Killing the Children, and The Department of Truth.
