Mark Haarfeldt studied history and philosophy in Dresden and Bochum. He earned a doctorate at the University of Konstanz with a dissertation on German propaganda in the Rhineland from 1918 to 1936. His professional activities included working as an education officer at the DGB Bildungswerk BUND and serving as a volunteer at the Duisburg Institute for Linguistic and Social Research. His areas of interest included the extreme right, right-wing economic, social and labor policies, the development of football fan culture, historical propaganda concepts, and networks and organizations of the New Right.
