Lewis Carroll

Author · 189 books

Lewis Carroll was the pen name of the British writer, mathematician, and photographer Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (1832–1898). He studied at Christ Church, Oxford, and later worked there as a tutor in mathematics and logic. Alongside his academic career, he pursued photography and published both mathematical and literary works. He became internationally known for Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel, Through the Looking-Glass (1871), which combine fantasy, logic, and wordplay. His other notable works include the nonsense poem The Hunting of the Snark (1876). The Alice stories were inspired by his acquaintance with Alice Liddell and her siblings.
