Kerstin Kempker

Born in Wuppertal in 1958, Kerstin Kempker is an author. After training as an industrial clerk and completing her secondary education, she studied medicine and sinology and became a social worker. She helped establish the Berliner Weglaufhaus, a crisis centre for people affected by psychiatry, and directed it from 1996 to 2001. From 2002 onward, she worked as a freelance author. Her publications include the nonfiction book “Flucht in die Wirklichkeit – Das Berliner Weglaufhaus” (1998), “Mitgift. Notizen vom Verschwinden” (2000), and the novels “Das wird ein Fest” (2011), “Die Erfüllung der Wünsche” (2014), and “Nur die Knochen bitte” (2015).
