Holger Hanowell

Holger Hanowell (born 1969) studied English and medieval, modern and contemporary history in Münster and at the University of Sheffield. He later earned a doctorate in English philology and book studies. As a freelance translator, he translated historical novels, nonfiction and other works of fiction from English into German. His work includes a translation of George Orwell’s *1984* for Reclam; he also made works by authors including Ben Kane and Christian Cameron available to German-speaking readers. Hanowell has additionally worked as an author and reviewer.
