Heiner Melching is a social pedagogue. Since 1995, he has worked in various areas of grief and crisis counseling and as a funeral director. From 1999 to 2008, he was managing director and head of the counseling center of Verwaiste Eltern und Geschwister Bremen e. V. From 2009 onward, he took on the role of managing director of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP).
