Haug von Kuenheim was born in Königsberg in 1934. He studied law in Berlin and passed his state examination in Saarbrücken. From 1961 onward, he held various senior positions at the weekly newspaper Die Zeit, including deputy editor-in-chief, head of its magazine, and publisher of ZEITpunkte.
