Gregor Sander

Gregor Sander, born in Schwerin in 1968, first trained as a locksmith and a nurse before studying medicine, German studies and history for several semesters. After attending the Berlin School of Journalism, he worked as a freelance author. His debut novel, »Abwesend«, was nominated for the German Book Prize. In 2004 he received the sponsorship award of the Friedrich Hölderlin Prize of the city of Homburg, and in 2009 the 3sat Prize at the Days of German-Language Literature. His short-story collection »Winterfisch« received the LiteraTour Nord Prize in 2012 and the German Short Story Prize in 2013. His novel »Was gewesen wäre« was adapted for film.
