Gesa zur Nieden (born 1978) is a German musicologist and academic. She studied musicology in Bochum, Venice, and Paris, and completed a German-French doctoral degree in 2008. Her research has addressed the social history of music, music theatre, spaces and buildings for music, musicians’ mobility, and the reception of Richard Wagner. From 2010 to 2016, she participated in international research projects on the migration and mobility of musicians in Europe. Her publications include the edited volume *Musicians’ Mobilities and Music Migrations in Early Modern Europe* (2016), co-edited with Berthold Over.
