Euripides (c. 485/480 BCE, Salamis – 406 BCE, Pella) was a Greek tragedian of classical antiquity. Alongside Aeschylus and Sophocles, he is regarded as one of the three great tragedians of ancient Greece. Of the approximately 90 tragedies attributed to him, 18 have survived; one satyr play is also extant. His best-known works include Medea, The Bacchae, The Trojan Women, Electra, and Iphigenia at Aulis.
