Eduardo Galeano

Eduardo Galeano (1940–2015) was a Uruguayan journalist, writer, and essayist. He began his journalistic career in 1960 as editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Marcha, later serving as publisher of Época in Uruguay and editor-in-chief of Crisis in Buenos Aires. After a period of exile in Spain, he returned to Uruguay in 1985. His literary work received several honors, including the Casa de las Américas Prize and the American Book Award. He also held honorary doctorates from several universities.
