Ece Temelkuran

Ece Temelkuran, born in Izmir in 1973, is a Turkish lawyer, writer and journalist. She worked as a journalist for many years and lost her position at a major Turkish daily because of her opposition to and criticism of the Turkish government. She left Turkey in 2016. Temelkuran has published several novels and nonfiction books, including the novels “What Do You Care What People Say?” and “Silent Swans”, as well as “The Time of Mute Swans” and “If Your Country Is No Longer Your Country”. Her work has been translated into numerous languages; her novel “What Do You Care What People Say?” appeared in 22 languages. She has received awards including the International PEN Piece Award, the Edinburgh International Book Festival Award, the Ambassador Of New Europe Award and the El Mundo Journalism Award.
