Daniel Illger (born 1977 in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany) is a film and literary scholar and author. He worked at the Free University of Berlin, where he received his doctorate in 2009 with a dissertation on the relationship between the city and historicity in Italian postwar cinema. His scholarly publications include “Grüne Sonnen. Poetik und Politik der Fantasy am Medium Videospiel” (2019), as well as work on the relationship between cinema and history, genre theory, and Western European postwar cinema. His debut novel, the first volume of the fantasy trilogy “Skargat,” received the SERAPH award for best debut in 2016.
