Christian Schnalke (born 1965) studied literature and philosophy. He has worked as an author for theatre, film and television; one of his plays was performed on Broadway. His screenplays for award-winning television productions include The Patriarch, Krupp: A German Family, Africa, My Love, The Duel of the Brothers: The Story of Adidas and Puma, and Katharina Luther. He has also published the historical novels Roman Fever and The Forger of Venice, as well as Louma and Gewitterschwestern. Schnalke spent several years in Tokyo with his wife, where he developed the habit of writing while on the move.
