Christian Pietsch (born 1960) studied Classical Philology and philosophy at the universities of Mainz and Tübingen from 1980 to 1986. He received his doctorate in 1992 with a dissertation on methods and epistemological foundations in Aristotle’s search for principles, and completed his habilitation in 1996 with a study of the unified conception of content in Apollonius Rhodius’s Argonautica. From 2003 onward, Pietsch served as a professor of Classical Philology and Greek Studies at the University of Münster. His research focused on ancient philosophy and Greek literature, particularly Hellenistic literature. In 2010, he founded the graduate school European Classics at Münster under his direction.
