Boris Poplawski

Boris Poplawski (1903–1935) was a Russian poet and writer born in Moscow into a Polish-Lithuanian noble family. After emigrating via Constantinople, he reached Paris in 1921. In 1922 he briefly studied art in Berlin before devoting himself primarily to literature in Paris. His work included poetry, criticism, and two novels. His only poetry collection published during his lifetime, “Flags,” appeared in 1931; excerpts from “Apollo Besobrazov” were published in 1932, while “Back from Heaven” appeared posthumously. Poplawski died in Paris in 1935.
